Beyond First-Week Hype: Ice Spice And Nicki Minaj's "Princess Diana" Freefalls 25 Spots On Billboard

Let's be honest. The charts and pure sales are not the only things being manipulated here. So is Nicki Minaj's success. Nicki is relying on the first-week hype to fool people into thinking she's still putting out hits. She knows that in STAN culture and blogging, people only pay attention to the first week, and she's banking on that to give the public the perception that she is still a hitmaker.

Well, well, well, looky here. Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj's latest single, "Princess Diana," is freefalling down the Billboard charts. I mean, who would have thunk it? Oh, wait, anyone who's been paying attention to female rap longer than a week.

The song debuted at #4 on the Hot 100, and everyone quickly proclaimed it a hit. YouTubers were celebrating, headlines were written, and Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj were undoubtedly feeling themselves. But, as they say, what goes up must come down, especially if you are a Nicki Minaj song. As a result, "Princess Diana" has dropped -25 spots to #29.

Being #29 on the Hot 100 is excellent for people not freefalling to that spot because they were doing clown shit the first week. Nicki Minaj and her fans have proven over and over again that this mass-buying scheme is not sustainable. Sure, she may be able to game the system for a week, but like clockwork, the truth about the song's popularity comes out.

Ask yourself: How many people who spoke about the song's debut are also speaking about this freefall?

I hope the rap girls are taking notes and don't fall for the first-week hype. Instead, focus on making great music and working your song up the charts. Slow and steady wins the chart race.

Speak, Heart, Share...Thanks!

One thing Nicki gonna pass down to the girls is a free falling feature! The song don’t give top 10 so why mass buy it for a high debut just for it to fall and NEVER reenter the top 10? Make it make sense. Ice spice EP also fell over 20 spots on billboard 200. Y’all gotta stopit with these front loaded sales! It only look good for 1 week! But I guess that’s how y’all want it because y’all know that most people don’t look at charts past the 1st week. So the high debuts make bitches look LIT. But them 2nd..3rd week numbers always tell a different story 🤷🏽‍♀️😮‍💨

PD is top 30 on AM. Top 40 on Spotify. This is what I mean when I said mass buying a top 30/40 sounding song dont make sense. and one of the biggest female rappers out shouldn’t have to rely on radio. If the streams and pure sales was consistent her music wouldn’t drop. it’s simple

Oh how you love to stay on Nicki Minaj‘s clit but radio silent about ya second lesbians crushes( Scratch OFF) singles ALL failing to chart & her pop song disappearing after only one week of charting at #86. You know damn well why the song free fell, it barely has 6 million radios compared to the 60 million + all the artists in the top ten currently have. Clearly the song is popular if it’s still in the top 35 on Spotify & Top 20 on Apple Music,. Where is ya girl Latto’s singles on any of the charts tho?? Hmmm nowhere to be found, on the floor frfr, a certified DUD. These new girls & legacy artists like Ciar…

I’ve seen songs stay stable without radio support. Just admit that the streams dropped and y’all played yourselves by mass buying a top 30/40 sounding song.
