T.I. interviewed Jermaine Dupri on his podcast, expediTIously. Jermaine spoke about his impressive career from dancing on stage with Diana Ross to producing/writing for acts like Kriss Kross, TLC, Xscape, Da Brat, Bow Wow, and King Usher.
At one point in the interview, T.I. brought up Jermaine's controversial interview with People Magazine,
where he was asked if he had a favorite female rapper right now. One of the hosts in an attempt to lead him threw out the names of Ole Girl, Nicki Minaj, and Megan Thee Stallion. Jermaine responded, "I can't really say. The reason why I can't say is because I feel like they are all rapping about the same thing, and I don't feel like...I don't think they are showing us who is the best rapper. I think they are trying to show, for me, it's like strippers rapping."
Jermaine Dupri clarified to T.I. that he was asked about three rappers. They then proceeded to go back and forth about stripper rappers AKA "STRAP" and how that should be its own genre...blah, blah, blah. This conversation highlighted why I hate listening to men speak on female rap. I was baffled as to why JD never excluded Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj from this "STRAP" conversation. He has to know they are not stripper rappers, especially Nicki Minaj who has shown her diversity for many years.
But, just when I thought I couldn't roll my eyes anymore, this conversation happened:
T.I. must be laughing at his friend because when it comes to Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj, you can read their lyrics without the beat. Can we say the same for a lot of the male rappers?

I keep forgetting JD’s connection with Mariah Carey. That connection may be why he acts like Nicki hasn't out rapped half the hip hop industry.

@Kimora I wasn't even trying to avoid the sex talk. Women talking about sex doesn't make them strippers, it makes them...WOMEN TALKING ABOUT SEX. You can be lyrical talking about any topic IMO. That's what irritated me about JD; he should know this. He should know Nicki Minaj. He should have heard Megan by now. I don't expect shit from TI🙄.
