NEW MUSIC
"RIP ME OUT THE PLASTIC, I BEEN ACT'N BRAND NEW" is the intro to Latto's new single, "Put It On Da Floor," which is dropping this Friday. After teasing the song at Coachella last weekend, the Atlanta-based artist raised some eyebrows among fans, who speculated whether she was directing certain lyrics at fellow rapper Nicki Minaj.
In the preview, Latto raps, "She thought I would kiss her ass; she must ain't took her meds," which many fans interpreted as a dig at Minaj, who often finds herself in the middle of drug allegations and trending under the hashtag "It's Giving Coke."
Latto may have also decided to kill two birds with one stone by addressing newcomer Ice Spice when she told the crowd she was tired of the subtweeting.
While Latto has yet to confirm if she is dissing the "Princess Diana" duo, does it matter? Just like it takes two to tango, it takes two to make a rap beef, and watching Nicki Minaj fight with herself since 2021's "Seeing Green" has gotten boring.
Even though Nicki Minaj has been in beefs most of her career, she is not battle tested. She has always hidden behind her stats as a reason not to go bar for bar, rhyme for rhyme, song for song with another girl. We all remember how "Shether" played out. So, I do not want to hear about "Oh, Latto can't beat Nicki." We all said Cardi B could not beat Nicki Minaj, and as I type this, Nicki is embarrassing herself, trying to get another #1 in an attempt to get closer to Cardi B's singles record.
So, PUT IT ON DA FLOOR!
Latto will also be featured on TiaCorine's "Freaky T" remix, dropping on Friday.
Speak, Heart, Share...Thanks!
The jokes write themselves when we’ve all seen Scratch Off Kiss TF outta Nicki’s ass in countless interviews, DM’s, IG lives, tweets & even has a whole framed tweet from Nicki praising her in her damn house lol so who she think she dissing with that line smh. Scratch off done put out about 6 different singles in the past 6 months & only one charted for 1 week & she thought going back pop was gonna shoot her to the top of charts. My thing is ya’ll (black women) stay hyping these girls online , (Latto, Meg, Chloe, HER, Coi, etc) but when they drop their projects ya’ll don’t support their music but claim to be such huge supporter…
Also just to add… I love this aesthetic Latto is tapping into. It reminds me of those super gorgeous girls in Ciara’s “so what” video. Just mid 00s video vixen.
I can’t believe people like akademiks and others will tell this girl “you can’t beat nicki so stop trying” so just because Nicki is a better rapper this girl is not supposed to stand up for herself as a rapper!? Like wtf? Nicki is not God.
