MEGAN THEE STALLION EXPOSES 1501 ENTERTAINMENT

Megan Thee Stallion got on Instagram Live and explained the issues she is having with her first label 1501 Entertainment. 1501 Ent. is owned by ex-MLB player Carl Crawford and T Farris. According to Megan Thee Stallion, they informed her she was not allowed to drop any new music.

Megan explained how her and her mama were doing everything themselves. They met with T Farris who said she should sign with 1501 Entertainment. Her mama, as her manager, handled all the paperwork. So, they signed with 1501. She later signed with another independent label 300 Entertainment. So, she is currently signed to two independent labels.

Well, the problems started after she signed a management deal with Roc Nation. When she signed with Roc Nation she got "real" lawyers. Lawyers not connected to the labels. Those lawyers pointed out issues with her 1501 Ent. contract. Megan said she was not mad at 1501 because they were family and she thought she could just ask to re-negotiate her contract. When she asked to re-negotiate that is when all the drama we saw on social media happened. Now, they are trying to prevent her from dropping any new music. #FreeMegan

This is why I asked about who is the female Jay Z at? Yeah, she is with Roc Nation but I don't expect the same support Lil Uzi Vert got, even though I should. The female rappers need that OG that is looking out for their best interest, not trying to prolong old beefs. There should be a management company owned by a female rapper or a group of female rappers. Why can't there be a management company where the clients own part of it like Tidal?

This video is long, but I believe people need to hear her full explanation before they say make up something for content.

Someone said on twitter how can Megan ask for renegotiates when she hasn't dropped her first studio album yet and they need to re coop all the money they spent on her I just wish her mom handle the contract situation a lot better cuz they blindly signed something they didnt understand without getting an expert to break everything down to to them like Nicki she was blessed cuz she had people who knew the business teach her everything she knows and she also educated herself even more on the business side thats why she said to always focus on ur business first and everything will fall into place

@kelly, here are my thoughts on your points.

1 - Yes, the smaller labels with people who do not know what they are doing can be a headache. Carl already did an interview where he admitted he was winging it and made mistakes. So, he is only one allowed to make mistakes???

2- Yes, Rock Nation can help. I have a feeling they told Meg to make this public. That is so Roc Nation. Lil Uzi Vert signed to Roc Nation to help him with his issues with Atlantic

3- 1501 is being vindictive. There is no reason to stop her from putting out music because it's all under the contract that benefits them. Megan has not refused to work.

So many thoughts:

1. These smaller labels can be just as bad if not worse than the larger labels.

2. Since roc nation pointed out the problem in Meg’s 1501 contract, are they able to something more to help?

3. Why would 1501 want to shelve their biggest artist?

4. I am so annoyed with people who are criticizing Meg and her mom. Where is the empathy like that they show for these male artists in similar situations?

5. Nicki needs to start her label asap!!

People are trippin because this is a Black woman not listening to men. There is a difference between asking to renegotiate and asking to be let out of your contract. Megan asked to renegotiate because she had no issue with 1501.

You notice that Megan only came out because they told her not to release any new music. Remember Lil Wayne refused to put out music when he was upset about his contract. Megan did not refuse to put out music

1501 is not obligated to renegotiate and Megan was not using the "I will not record" method to force them. They were still getting paid off everything she did. So, to tell her she can't release music is when…
