Megan Thee Stallion's "Cobra" Bites into Radio, Proving Vulnerable Female Rap Can Still Win

Megan Thee Stallion's "Cobra" Finally Gets Radio Play!

The number 4 may be Beyoncé's lucky number, but it's also proving to be a charm for Megan Thee Stallion. Her new single "Cobra" slithered into the top 10 of urban radio Mediabase adds this week, with four stations adding it to their playlists. "Cobra" is also only 2 spots away from being top 40 on Rhythmic Radio.

This is a major win for Megan, especially considering she's an independent artist who went against people's expectations when she dropped a hard-hitting, vulnerable rap song. "Cobra" has been slithering around since November, gathering steam with its distinct beat, retrospective lyrics, and (of course) Megan's signature confidence.

But we all know songs don't last on the Billboard Hot 100 without radio play. And with stations finally starting to catch on, "Cobra" is poised to strike again in 2024, especially when Megan starts performing the song live - hopefully with Spiritbox!

Have you heard "Cobra" on the radio?

Radio be coming in too late for her..I don’t know how much longer she’s going to be independent because COBRA proved she’s worth a nice record deal.
