It's been 2-weeks since DaBaby tried to disparage Megan Thee Stallion in a pitful attempt to jumpstart his career. But, despite the narratives spun by the Chitlin Circuit last week, Megan Thee Stallion did not respond to DaBaby at this year's iHeart Music Festival when she delivered a sex-positive message before going into her hit song "Body."
BUT SHE SHOUUULD!
CANCEL CULTURE dOeSn'T eXiSt
Since 2021, DaBaby has been the poster child for "cancel culture" after he and Tory Lanez attempted to bumrush Megan Thee Stallion's performance at Rolling Loud. While Tory Lanez faced a judge for violating a court-ordered restraining order, DaBaby quickly became a walking country song.
He lost festivals, money, a chart-topping collab with Dua Lipe, and probably his dog.
While his attempts to make amends with the LGBTQ+ community were a disaster, apologies were non-existent when it came to Megan Thee Stallion. Celie said it best, "Until you do right by me, everything you think about is gonna crumble."
So, DaBaby continued to reap what he sowed and 4 months later claimed to be the VICTIM of domestic violence at the hands of his baby mama, Danileigh. While performing at Rolling Loud Los Angeles, instead of throwing bras, the crowd threw trash. Then, the "First Lady" of Billion Dollar Baby Ent, KayyKilo, exposed him for being verbally abusive. But, if he thought GOD was done bending it like Beckham, he soon found out that angels were about to yell "GOOOOOAL!" as the "Live Show Killa" became the laughing stock of Black Twitter once reports surfaced that he could not even sell $35 tickets to a New Orleans show.
BOOGEYMAN
So, with the release of his fourth studio album, "Baby On Baby 2," one would hope to hear an artist focused on showing growth and getting back to the success he once enjoyed. But, instead, we get "Boogeyman," a track that shows DaBaby is still blaming everyone else for his 2021 downfall, including Megan Thee Stallion.
Artistic License: refers to deviation from FACT or form for artistic purposes.
He starts "Boogeyman" off with a verse made for the headlines:
"You played with me; that shit was childish /
The day before she said that Tory Lanez shot her, I was fuckin' on Megan Thee Stallion / Waited to say that shit on my next album
Hit it the day before too / But I kept it playa, I ain't say nothing 'bout it"
This stunt is a continuation of the disrespect DaBaby has shown Megan Thee Stallion over the past year. Let's never forget this is the same man who claimed he was hacked after retweeting a joke about Tory Lanez getting away with shooting her.
DaBaby played himself by trying to use this song as some type of "shock and awe" promotion for an album being described as "attention seeking," "nonsensical," "desperate," and a "monument to his falloff."
"They take all that hate they got for me and market it
When they shit ain't poppin', they usin' Megan for marketing."
Megan Thee Stallion - NDA
Besides the scathing reviews, Rolling Stone ran a story about songwriter Layla Hendryx possibly suing DaBaby for stealing and plagiarizing her song by the same name.
So, DaBaby did all that stunt-queen'n just to be rewarded with the lowest first-week sales of his career and a possible lawsuit.
DJ, play "God's Favorite."
HOLY TRINITY OF DISRESPECT
On a mental health note, it must be pointed out how DaBaby loves using Tory Lanez as a way to gaslight Megan Thee Stallion. First, it was the retweet, then the Rolling Loud shit, and now he has somehow managed to link his alleged sexapades with her to the shooting.
Once is an accident. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is enemy action.
It reminds me that DaBaby's mentor and possible script writer, 50 Cent was one of the first people to post a meme about Megan getting shot.
BOBBSEY TWINS
While DaBaby made a mistake grabbing for the same low-hanging fruit men love reaching for after developing an irrational grudge against a woman, he really lost his mind when he started reading from Tory Lanez's playbook. First, tell a salacious story (sex + violence) that the bloggers can't resist, and the public wants to believe so bad that they won't even bother questioning the motives of the person "spilling the tea." Then drop a music video that attempts to mock Megan, hoping she becomes the butt of jokes on social media. This clown shit is a carbon copy of how Tory Lanez has relentlessly taunted Megan since the night of the shooting.
DaBaby is morphing into Tory Lanez, and we don't even like Tory Lanez. DaBaby is so vain that he would rather be hated than ignored.
Well, like his twinnem, if DaBaby wants us to believe he fck'd Megan Thee Stallion 2 LONG YEARS AGO, the burden of proof is on him. So, he better "pony up" those receipts; otherwise, he is just another short dusty-ass nigga lying on his dick.
FCK IT, MEGAN NEEDS TO GET HER LICK BACK
In 2020, when Megan Thee Stallion was asked why on her debut album, "Good News," did she decide to address Tory Lanez with a "Shots Fired" diss track, she replied:
"Yeah, because it comes a time where it gets hard to be the bigger person sometimes. Um... and at the end of the day, I can't just keep let'n people like walk all over me. I can't keep let'n people take these jabs at me, and I'm not gonna say nothing. Once you made it rap beef. You put it on wax. Now, I gotta say something."
Two years later, I pray those sentiments have not changed. DaBaby not only made this a rap beef once he said Megan's name and "put it on wax," but he made it personal. If DaBaby wants beef, let there be beef. If he wants to act like a "crybaby," then wrap his ass in a pamper and stick a pacifier in his mouth. In other words...MEGAN NEEDS TO DROP A DISS TRACK, verse, or line. Either way, the incessant disrespect needs to be addressed.
I can already hear people yelling:
"Megan should ignore him!"
"She doesn't have to respond; let him flop in peace!"
"Nobody is listening to him!"
"She doesn't need the DRAAAAMA!"
All those sentiments are valid, and Megan is in a position where she does not have to respond. However, as a rapper who wants to sit among the greats when it's all said and done, there are two reasons taking the high road is not always the best play: BRAND & HIP-HOP RESUME.
MEGAN THEE BRAND
Megan Thee Stallion constantly has people telling her to ignore the disrespect and constant attacks on her character. However, that advice only works if used strategically. If ignoring becomes her typical response, she opens herself up to neverending slanderous attacks by her rivals. The more the disrespect goes unanswered, the more she risks her reputation becoming irreversibly tarnished, and the brand of Megan Thee Stallion will slowly suffer.
Megan must adhere to Law #5 of the 48 Laws of Power: "So Much Depends On Reputation Guard It With Your Life."
We all know what DaBaby attempted to do by claiming he fck'd her. The old "slut shaming" tactic used to embarrass and humble successful women in the music industry for decades. Reinforcing the old tired narrative that the only way a female rapper finds success in Hip Hop is by what she does in bed, not in
the booth.
Reputation is the cornerstone of power.
Good thing for Megan; it is 2022 and not 1982, which is why DaBaby's tattletales fell on deaf ears. However, just because the public did not champion this attack on Megan does not mean another rapper will not be tempted to piggyback off this whispering campaign and go at Megan for personal or attention-seeking reasons. This is why Megan needs to make an example out of DaBaby, whether he lied or is simply a chatty patty.
Yeah, question, is she fuckin' for the money, or is she fuckin' for free? All I know, after this, you ain't gon' be fuckin' with me. - DreamDoll
If he lied, Megan could turn his dragging into a woman's anthem for all the girls who have been victims of
men forcing sex narratives onto them. A diss that doesn't just address the violation against her but the violations against other women. Women know guys lie on their dick, so it's easily relatable. This approach could be culture-shifting, and it fits Megan's brand perfectly.
The alternative, DaBaby did not lie, and Megan can take the DreamDoll approach after Tory Lanez decided to blab about fck'n her during his rap battle with Joyner Lucas/Don Q.
Dreamdoll carried out Law #17, Be Unpredictable, flawlessly when she shocked the world with her Tory Lanez diss track, "On Ya Head." Instead of allowing the pint-size mimic rapper to use her as a prop in his rap battle, she took control of her own narrative. It was over for Tory Lanez after the first two bars:
"The same night I met Tory, had him eatin' my box
Eatin' my ass, he tried to suck my feet through my socks (Oh)"
Being predictable gives control to others
Megan should come on some "you fck'd me, I fck'd you, we both fck'd each other...but you're the only one still talking about it" type of shit. This approach would be just as powerful and relatable for all women tired of being bashed for having a healthy sex drive. This is not the 1950s, and if it's such a problem for women to enjoy sex, then men can just fck each other.
If Megan responds to DaBaby, she regains control of her narrative, which was the purpose of Traumazine.
Being the narrator of her story is crucial to protecting her brand, which cannot happen if she always stays silent and allows others to have the last word.
HIP HOP RESUME
While protecting the brand is a necessity, Megan adding another diss track to her resume is purely for bragging rights. If you look at the top rap legends, many of them have been battle tested. They have had disses thrown at them and tossed them right back. Diss tracks like "Roxanne's Revenge," "10% Diss," "No Vaseline," "Ether," "Hit 'Em Up," "Back To Back," "Story of Adidon," and "Shether" created moments in Hip Hop that helped artists solidify their status as legends.
If DaBaby wants to help Megan Thee Stallion get a seat at a table that includes Roxanne Shante, MC Lyte, Ice Cube, Nas, 2 Pac, Drake, Pusha T, Remy Ma, and more; I say let him. While Megan's peers are fighting on Twitter and in Highbridge, she should be fighting for her spot on best diss track lists. This will be another way Meg distinguishes herself from her peers.
BE LIKE BEYONCE
People always say, "bE lIkE bEyOnCe." Well, Beyonce recently clapped back at Right Said Fred after they tried pulling a Kelis and claimed she did not ask to sample them and was arrogant. Beyonce had the receipts, along with dates, ready for their asses. See, even the Queen knows when enough is enough. Let's hope when Traumazine Deluxe releases, Megan has had enough too.
Speak, Heart, Share...Thanks!
Megan need to take the L and stop f*cking down.
Like I've been saying. Megan is tired...she has done so much explaining herself in the last two years if she didn't fuck him Wrap his ass up in a defamation suit with the rest of em and call it a day....I don't think she'll respond cupcake decided to diss her about being shot RIGHT after it happened in 2020...they only bothering her because it's popular to.
