NORMANI GETS THE LAST LAUGH AS SHE IS SET TO PERFORM AT 2021 VMAs
They say a closed mouths don't get fed, and today Normani proved that saying right after MTV confirmed that she would be performing her song "Wild Side" this Sunday at MTV's 2021 Video Music Awards hosted by Doja Cat.
When MTV first revealed which artists made their 2021 VMA's lineup, Normani was conspicuously missing.
While fans got upset and haters started trolling, Normani did the unexpected. She publicly let it be known she wanted to perform at the VMAs. A'la Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak who aggressively campaigned for a spot at the Grammys.
In a time when everyone is too cool to admit they want something, social media rushed to misinterpret Normani's tenacity as begging. On an Atlanta radio station, Normani said, "I'm honestly disappointed about it. This last week, I've just been in my head. But also, I know that everything happens for a reason. With or without, I'm good."
Along with dealing with false narratives and frustrations, "Wild Side" collaborator Cardi B blindsided Norman when she threw a public temper tantrum when the song failed to debut in the top 10. Carid B also got exposed for blaming Black women for her failing star power. So instead of a cultural reset, it ended up being an ego reset for the Latino rapper.
No matter, Normani is showing that not only does she have a "Wild Side," but a resilient one too. I do not believe she would be performing at the VMAs if she had not been vocal.
Watch Normani kill it this Sunday at 5 PM PST.

I would love to see Normani and Chloe collab together. The choreography for the video would be insane.
