Doja Cat, the Princess of R&B, the Queen of Rap, is now taking on a new role as Skechers' first artist-in-residence. The partnership was announced during her performance at the Time100 Gala, where she wore a custom outfit made entirely of deconstructed Skechers Uno sneakers.
The collaboration has kicked off with a new commercial featuring Doja Cat in a Street Fighter video game-inspired showdown between her two opposing personalities represented by pink and green. The commercial highlights the Uno shoe's versatility and style, which also perfectly aligns with the marketing of Doja Cat as a "versatile" artist.
Interestingly, just six months ago, Skechers reportedly refused to meet with Kanye West, aka Ye, after he was bounced from Adidas. Now that the "cat is out of the bag," this partnership with Doja Cat may be why.
