Ever since The Weeknd threw that hissy fit over his 2021 Grammys snub, the media and fans have been as interested in which artists will not submit for the highly controversial award as they are for who will be nominated.
Well, news just broke that Anderson. Paak and Bruno Mars, collectively known as Silk Sonic, will not submit their platinum-selling album, An Evening With Silk Sonic, or any hit singles to be in contention for the 2023 Grammys.
If you remember, Silk Sonic went from "begging" to perform at the 2021 Grammys to sweeping all 4 of their categories at this year's Grammys, which included song and record of the year.
In a statement to the press, Bruno Mars said,
"Silk Sonic would like to gracefully, humbly, and most importantly, sexually bow out of submitting our album this year. Andy and I, and everyone that worked on this project, won the moment the world responded to 'Leave the Door Open.' Everything else was just icing on the cake. We thank the Grammys for allowing us to perform on their platform — not once but twice — and awarding us at last year's ceremony. We'd be crazy to ask for anything more."
RUMOR ME THIS...
Now, the rumors are that Anderson and Bruno are not submitting so they can avoid any backlash if they were to be nominated and then win again, which was highly likely. They are Grammy favorites, and the music is great.
We already know that Bruno Mars gets accused of cultural appropriation, and some feel he is awarded for mimicking artists who should have won Grammys.
Well, as long as Kendrick Lamar submits his album, I'm good.
