Two Listen Review Of Normani's "Wild Side" Feat. Cardi B

wild side normani and cardi b review

Ok, here is my "two listen" review of Normani and Cardi B's "Wild Side."

SONG:

After two listens, I'm still not sure how I feel about "Wild Side." It's cool track, but something is missing. There was no stand-out part of the song that made me want to go back to sing along with Normani. I feel like it's one of those songs that you don't turn off when it comes on, but you also don't have it in your playlist. It's not a bad song, it's just not better than what I am already lsitening to.

As for Cardi B, she was not needed. Featured artists should add to a single, not take away from it. Cardi B is not a featured artist, and that has been proven. She did not fit at all, and maybe that is what is throwing me off. If she was needed for promo, they should have given her a nice Lil executive producer tag, so she would still be invested in promoting. With that said, I really do appreciate how Cardi made Normani feel like a superstar tonight while on IG Live. Normani was obviously nervous, and Cardi B really appeared to ease some of those nerves.

VIDEO:

I was expecting more from the video. I liked the different scenes that Normani gave us. But, again, I feel like Cardi's part was the letdown. I'm not picking on Ole Girl, but we have seen the girl-on-girl thing with her before. We know she is bisexual. We have seen her naked. It's too predictable and too deja vu for me.

Another thing, since this was Normani's song, I felt everything should have felt like it was her vision. A few things feel like it's Cardi B presenting Normani.

I reserve the right to change my opinion at a later date, LOL.

WHAT DO Y'ALL THINK?

Well predictions are saying WS will debut in the top 50. BIG YIKES. Her last single, Motivation, debuted at #33. Its embarrassing because this is her “comeback” single with a supposed A-list rapper. And Cardi is on twitter begging for playlisting. When you’re that girl? You don’t need playlisting. I’m still rooting for Normani. She just need a upbeat, catchy song. And she’ll be fine.

why does Normani give me saweetie vibes. Just like saweetie uses the samples normani does the same but by using other artist to compare her self. Motivation beyonce vibes all around and that was the hype behind it too this one aaliyah. that’s one of the first things people say about this song and then the comparisons is she the next bey , aaliyah? Also why wait 2 years then come back with a werid collab that was thrown together last min? Why is her team so bad? I cant be the only to notice? This industry is ageist shes getting older and still no solo album.

I enjoyed the Choreo. Vocals could have been better. Cardi did not add value to the song but as you stated it was great that she helped push the song. I would love if they could do something more than the girl on girl thing.

it's not bad, it's just not all that. I feel like doja cat would have been a better fit, or maybe she could've took a shot with mulatto or megan, because cardi b just didn't fit with this song. another singer would've been better, too

The song is boring. I know she has better songs in the vault. Cardi as we all knew, wasn’t needed for this song. The cover art is giving WAP. And people are mainly talking about the visuals and not the song which isn’t good. That’s the bad part about putting so much effort and money into visuals for a mediocre song. The overall YouTube views will look ok but the streams? 🧐

And lastly, Cardi don’t have the range to elevate anyone’s song but I see that shes been working overtime to put that claim to her name. She’s not Drake. Hell, Drake isn’t even Drake at the moment 😂
