In Cardi B's response to Jermaine Dupri she shouted out female rappers who she felt didn't get enough attention from fans, like Rapsody, Tierra Whack, Chika, and Kamaiyah. These are all women Cardi is already friendly with. She tends to "show love" to artists who she shares management with or who are not competition for her. Cardi B understands that by shouting out these rappers she will get the good "press" her song couldn't get her, without the obligation of actually working with these femcees. If she truly felt these girls were not getting the attention they deserve, why not put them on a track? Wouldn't allowing these girls a chance at charting on Billboard/Rolling Stone, a certified plaque, radio play, and most importantly money be better than a self promoting shout out?
Youtuber Jovi Beauty also spoke about Cardi B "showing love" to these female rappers:
All the women Cardi shouted out have already received the type of social media attention they are getting now. This is not the first time a popular artist has shown them love. Some are Grammy nominated. When will the shout outs turn into features? At this point it feels like the Latina chick giving out Scooby snacks to the dark skin girls. We know that the industry has a colorism problem. So while Cardi B is totally OK with pointing out these girls don't get enough attention for their raps, she doesn't seem to want to be part of the solution. She just wants to try to attach herself to hotter artists, like Lil Nas X. I don't want to hear about her doing a song with the City Girls. They are part of QC management.
Do you think Cardi B should do a song with these girls if she is going to keep shouting them out?
