DANCE LIKE MICHAEL JACK-SON
Tonight, Drake is dropping his new TikTok song titled, #ToosieSlide. The song is produced by OZ, who worked on Sicko Mode and Life Is Good. Yep! Kanye is making Gospel music, and Drake is spending his legacy years trying to go viral on TikTok.
On Monday, ATL dancer Toosie had blogs buzzing after he posted a clip of him and some friends dancing to a snippet of the unreleased track on TikTok. In the video, you can hear Drake instructing listeners,
"Gotta dance but it's really on some street sh*t
Imma show you how to get it
It go, Right foot up, left foot slide
Left foot up, right foot slide
basically, I'm saying, either way, we bout' to slide (hey)
can't let this one slide"
On Tuesday, Drake confirmed that "Toosie Slide" or as Akademiks mistakenly called it, "Tootsie Roll," will officially release this Thursday.
PANDERING DRIZZY
This is pandering at its finest by the so-called #1 artists in the world. Let me make it clear that I am not
against rappers or R&B artists being popular on TikTok. I personally enjoy TikTok. However, there is a difference between artists creating a great song that happens to go viral on TikTok organically vs. an artist creating a song pandering to an app. If Drake is doing this, then I don't want to hear sh*t when other artists do the same.
New Hotline Bling?
Pandering aside, let's talk about the song. I feel like Drake is trying to replicate his Hotline Bling era with
this song. Toosie Slide reminds me of a cross between Hotline Bling and the Cha-Cha Slide. Now, I don't know if this song will be as big as Hotline Bling, but Drake is making sure Toosie Slide has all the elements that made Hotline Bling/Cha-Cha Slide fan favorites.
Not lyrically
An easy dance that everyone can do
Hotline Bling reached #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 and is certified 8 x platinum.
Do you think Toosie Slide has the potential to be as popular?
Are y'all going to be "Toosie Sliding" all through the 2020 quarantine?
P.S. What is up with the single cover? It does not fit the vibe of the song at all. It looks like it's from his "War" song.
Comment, Like, Share...Thanks!
Drake has truly become a laughing stalk to me. Hotline bling was already trash now this. Until drake realizes he is legacy act and stop chasing some damm stats and charts and truly focus on the music then maybe he will be taking seriously. But you know they got to come out and label this as the greatest song of the year which also plays a factor in why I just don’t like him at this point. If Nicki had dropped this she would of been clowned left and right.
I did not even recognize Ayo & Teo. Anyways, as I thought 💭 Drake was trying to get this dance viral before he dropped the song. He sent the song to the dancers awhile ago.
@Prinestess, you're raising Kings!
Drake is so coddled by the industry because he is "too big to fail," that it makes him not have to work like Kendrick, J Cole or Nicki. Drake is chasing stats not quality, so he can claim he is better than his peers.
It also gives me drake & future life is good vibes. They always yell out how women sound the same yet drake is now a broken record. I always judge the quality of music and who will be in the discussion in years to come by how the youth take it. Happy to say my sons say Drake is wack to them and they only like him when others are on the song and both love meg & Nicki and not ole girl so I’m good lol drake who’s been out 10+ years is still not seen as a writer. A singer maybe lol he wants to be in the great writer discussion so bad. We know the only one…
@Priestesss, I was thinking about how he kinda took the fun out of fans making the dance by sending it to this guy to start his rollout.
I feel the song is below someone who sat his ass on Rap Radar and went hard about how he is a great writer.
